TOOTH TYPES & SET:

Hook Bimetal Blades with a ground positive rake tooth profile r ive a good cut in soft metals and wood. These should be used or thicker cuts in these materials. Variable Pitch Bimetal Blades combine regular teeth of different 7- pitches, gullet depths, and set angles. Variable Pitch gives smoother cuts. faster sawing, improved chip clearance, and longer blade life. Chatter (which can ruin a blade) is eliminated. Variable Pitch blades can handle solid cutting and interrupted cutting such as tubing.

Variable Pitch Set:

Premium Bimetal Variable Pitch Blades feature a set sequence that depends on the variable pitch tooth pattern.

Cutting with Bimetal BandSaw Blades:

Structural shapes should be cut at a blade speed of 350 fpm (feet per minute) wet. 200-250 fpm dry. When cutting solids. blade speeds should be 300 fpm or less wet. 200 fpm or less dry.

NOTE: all cutting should follow the simple rule of no less than 2 teeth in contact with the cut at all times, while not allowing more than approximately 10 teeth to contact the cut. Any fewer than 2 teeth in contact can allow the material to drop into the gullet of the blade, causing teeth to shear off. Allowing more than approximately 10 teeth to contact the cut can cause the teeth to not remove the waste effectively and can cause binding in the cut and also damage the teeth and set.

How Bi-Metal Band saw Blades Are Manufactured:

Bimetal Blades are welded by an electron beam under htgh vacuum to attach the strip 1 of high speed M2 steel to the spring steel back. The teeth are then milled or ground into the M2 steel.
